Q: What will you never forget about James?
A: James used to come in to Swallows garage for gas. He was always interested in music and used to give me cassettes when he was done with them. He talked about how he loved his cat. A kindhearted gentleman, I will miss his visits. Rest easy, James.

We are saddened to hear of Jimmies passing. He always had a friendly hello. He loved his mountain and when we went up there to pick blueberries he scouted out the best places for us to go. He was proud of where he lived and wanted to share his home with you. Rest in Peace Jimmie.

I remember as a very young child taking what seemed to be such a long drive with my parents to McGrath's Mountain to visit with cousin jimmy and family .
Back in those days, early 1950's, The Mountain was by 'regular' rural standards considered to be very isolated!
At that time even in Merigomish, I personally do not remember anyone having the luxury of indoor plumbing!
We knew what we knew and that was that!
I remember the wonderful warmth and hospitality : the delicious meals prepared by Aunt Catherine and Therasa .
Suppers lit by oil lamps and neighbors entertaining everyone with fiddle and banjo music.
Rest in peace jimmy and thanks for the memories!
Cousin Eric

I remember as a young child going on a Sunday drive with my parents and visiting with our cousin Jimmy's family on McGrath's Mountain.
At that time and as a child it seemed such a long drive.
Of course in those early days there was no such thing as modern facilities such as electricity on the mountain.
I actually did not know any of my relatives having indoor plumbing back in the early 1950's hard to imagine in modern day society but we knew what we knew.
What stands out more than anything in my memory was the generous warmth and hospitality of being with family.
Our relatives on McGrath's Mountain who by the standard of the day were considered to be pretty isolated from the 'regular' rural communities down on the shores of Merigomish.
I loved visiting with jimmy and my aunts and uncle. How fortunate we all were and my memories live on.
Cousin Eric
