Obituary of Isabel Christine English

Isabel Christine “Chris” English, 75, Thorburn, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 16, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.        

Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd George and Mary Catherine (Campbell) English. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn. In earlier years, Chris had been employed with the former Zellers downtown New Glasgow. She was a hairdresser and operated a beauty salon out of the Norfolk Hotel and later Archimedes Street, New Glasgow with her friend, Judy McClary.  Prior to retirement, she was employed with Valley View Villa, Riverton. Chris enjoyed sewing, cooking and loved flower gardening, especially looking after her lilies. She was a kind, loving, and caring lady who will be dearly missed by those she loved.

Surviving are her sister, Jennie English, Thorburn; brother, Lloyd (Sherry) English, Thorburn; brother-in-law, Frank Norris, New Glasgow; nieces and nephews, Kevin (Alice) English, Ritchie English (Amanda), Leanne (Peter) Lim, Carla (Adam) Williams, Cindy (Derek) DeCoste, John (Michelle) Norris, Frank (Cathy) Norris; great-nieces and nephews, Sarah, Cody, Taylor, Dawson, Brooke, Garrett, Allie, Shanna, Ethan, Kayla, Kelsey, Keigan and Hannah; aunt, Marjorie Campbell, Montague, P.E.I.; uncle, Jerry Rogers, Thorburn; numerous cousins.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Judy Norris; great-nephew, Cameron Norris; several aunts and uncles.

The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 19 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 20 with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery.
