Obituary of Charles Kent MacDonald
Charles Kent “Bubs” MacDonald, 87, Linacy, went home to be with his Lord and join his wife on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Clarence Edwin Kent and Margaret Murray (Kirk) MacDonald. He was raised on the family farm in Linacy, where, as a young child he learned the value of hard work and earned the family nickname, “Bubs”. He enjoyed working in the woods and in his late teens, began his lifelong career working in forestry and lumbering. He married the love of his life in 1961 and together they raised three boys, instilling in them the value of hard work while exemplifying a strong faith in Christ. He loved his family unconditionally, always wanting the best for them. Kent and his brother Alex “Sandy”, worked together for many years operating A. & K. Logging Ltd., cutting logs, pulp, firewood and operating a sawmill. He continued to operate the business into his 80’s, never losing his love of the forest. He possessed an enduring faith in his Lord and Savior, reading from his Bible and praying daily.
Surviving are sons, Peter (Jane) MacDonald, and their son, Christopher, Linacy; Kirk MacDonald and his son, Kent, Linacy; Elden (Lara) MacDonald and their children, Tanner and Maya, Greenwood; sisters, Barbara McDonald, Halifax; Marion (Frank) MacLaughlin, Sherbrooke; brothers, Alex “Sandy” MacDonald, Linacy; Graham (Karen) MacDonald, Linacy; sister-in-law, Erika MacDonald, Linacy; brother-in-law, Vernon (Marlene) McGrath, Broadway; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
