Obituary of Hubert Clarence McDonald

Hubert Clarence “Bert” McDonald, 67, Pictou Landing, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 11, 2023, at home, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Born in Springhill, he was a son of Frances (Bird) McDonald, Springhill and the late Arthur Sidney McDonald.  Bert was employed as a machinist with Michelin Tire, Granton for 35 years.  He was a marksman and thoroughly enjoyed competitive shooting, a sport that gathered him many treasured friends. Bert was an accomplished gunsmith, a well-respected artist. He was a hard-worker, terrific father and grandfather, and loving husband.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Mary Alice McDonald; sons, Steven McDonald, Stellarton; Kevin McDonald, Calgary, Alta.; grandchildren, Danielle, Marcy and Carlee; sisters-in-law, Cathy, Annie, Kathy, Faye (Jody) and Debbie (Jim); brothers-in-law, Joey (Stella), Kenny, Robbie (Mary) and Paul (Amanda); many nieces and nephews.

Besides his father, Arthur, he was predeceased by sister, Brenda MacAloney; brother, Frankie; brothers-in-law, Carl and Lester.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 31 in HIllside Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
