Obituary of Donna Marie Finley

Donna Marie Finley, 76, Thorburn, passed away, Thursday, May 25, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Pictou, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Evelyn Mae (Hughes) Chisholm. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. In her teens, Donna was a drummer with the Dunvegan Girls Pipe Band, Westville, and a highland dancer. Prior to retirement, she was employed with Sobeys for many years in various capacities. Donna spent every possible moment with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. She leaves a rich legacy of love and an example for her family to follow.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Reg Finley; sons, Derek (Carla) Finley, New Glasgow; Trevor (Hayley) Finley, Abercrombie; grandchildren, Alyssa, Ava and Jack; sisters, Sharon Lively, New Glasgow; Rita Chisholm, New Glasgow; niece, Ann Marie; nephews, Bobby and Kevin.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Bob Lively and Alfred Chisholm.

In keeping with Donna’s wishes, her family will honour her life privately.
