Obituary of Gladys Elizabeth Richard
Gladys Elizabeth Richard, 81, New Glasgow passed away, Friday, June 2, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Aulac, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Garnet and Mary Carter. Through out her life, Gladys was a devoted and loving home maker. In earlier years, she was an avid horseback rider, hunter, and fisher. She enjoyed Wednesday afternoon bingo with her friends, weekend washer toss, and playing solitaire on her computer. Gladys was a loving, generous, and affectionate lady who was best described as, “a joy to be around”.
Surviving are her sons, Gordon Wells, Amherst; Carman (Gillian) Wells, Sackville, N.B.; Richard Wells, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Norman (Lorie) Wells, Sackville; stepdaughters, Jennifer (Gordon) Fennell, New Glasgow; Paula (Joey) Swallow, Thorburn; step-sons, Michael (Donna) Richard, New Glasgow; Jim (Anna) Richard, Red Deer, Alta.; Wendell Richard, Pictou; Stephen (Sara) Richard, Westville; step-daughter-in-law, Darlene Richard, Alma; honorary daughter, Amanda (Johannus) McNeil, Hopewell; sisters, Hazel and Audrey; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Mark Gordon Albert Richard; son, Stephen Wells; stepson, Jeffrey Allan Richard; siblings, Helen, Margaret-Jean, Ronald, Allan, and Donald.
A Celebration of Glady’s life will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 10 in Ward One Recreation Centre, New Glasgow with words of comfort at 3:45 p.m. by Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson.
