Obituary of Nicholas Patrick Laffin

Nicholas Patrick Laffin, 23, New Glasgow, formerly of Trenton, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, as the result of a motor vehicle accident, alongside the love of his life, Alanta Bezanson.

Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of Dwayne Patrick Laffin (Kim), Pictou and Janice Lee (Johnston) Laffin, New Glasgow. Nicholas was employed as a counsellor with Highland Community Residential Services, a career he thoroughly enjoyed.

Nicholas had a zest for life. Growing up, he enjoyed biking, skate boarding and playing video games with his friends, but his true passion was hockey. He loved the outdoors and fishing. Over the past few years, along with listening to music, he developed a love for playing the keyboard and guitar. A passion he shared with his grandfathers, Earl, and Ralph. Nicholas and Alanta were always up for an adventure and travelled to many places.  They both lived life to the fullest.  They had many wonderful close friends that they enjoyed spending time with. Family time was especially important to them both.

Surviving besides his parents, Dwayne and Janice, are sister, Hannah Laffin (Gage) and their son, Milo, New Glasgow; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Lynn Johnston, Trenton; paternal grandmother, Judy Laffin, Pictou; maternal uncle, Darrell (Pam) Johnston and their son, Taylor, Trenton; maternal aunt, Tammy Laffin, New Glasgow; many great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Earl Laffin.

The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 15, in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 noon Friday, June 16, in Stella Maris Parish with Father Peter J. MacDonald presiding.  Interment will be in Abercrombie Cemetery.
