Obituary of Colleen Marilyn Shirley Carol MacDonald

Colleen Marilyn Shirley Carol MacDonald, 68, New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023, at home.

Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Helen Vera Elizabeth McDonald. In her early years, Colleen loved anything to do with horses and spending time in a barn. Later in life she enjoyed attending quarter mile races in Maitland and anything to do with cars and trucks. She also loved her many Huskie’s throughout the years.

Her feline friend, Baby Girl was her constant companion who she spoiled endlessly. Colleen frequently told her children how proud she was of them. She loved her grandchildren beyond words, including her fur grandbabies, Jersey, Opie, Remi, Momma Bear, Domi and Cleo. Colleen loved showing her children the latest picture collage she would make of them. She thought the world of her children and her grandchildren. 

One of her favourite things to do was to set up a tent in her living room and have Meagan and Wesley over for sleepovers and spoiled them with treats. Her smile would light up as soon as she seen them walk in the door. 

Surviving are her son Gerry Turnbull (Wendi), their children Xenia, Emma and Adam, Kelowna, B.C.; her daughter, Amanda MacDonald (Gary), their children Meagan and Wesley, Riverton; son, Christopher “Chris” MacDonald, Bedford.; brother, Eric (Joan) MacDonald, Long Sault, Ont.; and long-time best friend, “chosen sister”, Janet Lucas, New Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her mother, she was predeceased by sisters, Sharon “Sissy” McDonald and Linda Tessier.

The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m., Friday, June 30, 2023, in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.

Donations may be made in Colleen’s memory to the Pictou County SPCA.
