Obituary of Joy Ann Patton

Joy Ann Patton, 72, Churchville, formerly of Linacy, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Douglas Guynmour and Nellie Ellen (Clark) Patton. Joy was co-owner and office manager of Village Green Landscaping for many years. She radiated an internal beauty that attracted people to her. Joy possessed a charitable spirit, always giving to others.  She leaves a rich legacy for her family to cherish. Joy embraced her Christian faith and believed that death is only the passage to eternal life.

Surviving are husband, Ronald Quinn; daughters, Cindy Urquhart (Donna), Churchville; Darla Quinn, Ontario; sons, Edward “Eddie” (Alana) Urquhart, Niagara, Ont.; Mike Quinn (Wanda), Churchville; granddaughters, Alyson “Aly” Pelrine (Devon) , Katherine Hope Ann Urquhart, Ashley (Brandon) Robertson and Rachel Quinn; great-grandson, Beau;  nieces, Beth Ann (Ben) and Tracy Bahrych (Duncan); nephew, Vernon; great-nephews, Chandler and Salem; sisters-in-law, Lynda Patton, Spruce Grove, Alta., and Yvonne Watson, Kincardine, Ont.; best friends, Janie Johnson, Pleasant Valley; Joan Dooley, Westville.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Angeline in infancy; brothers, Douglas R., Vernon F., Wayne G., and Alan R. Patton; former husband, Edward Urquhart.

The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 25 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26 in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.  Interment will be in Lorne Street Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Joy’s memory to Pictou County SPCA.

Joy’s family wish to thank Dr. Anne Kwasnik-Krawczyk, Debbie Williams, RN, and the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit staff for the wonderful care she received. Special thanks to her niece, Alaine Halliday, who was always there.
