Obituary of John George Farrell
John George “Johnny” Farrell, 86, Pine Tree, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 27, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late George Patrick and Margaret Mary (Phalen) Farrell. In earlier years he was employed with Alex MacDonald Motors, Marshy Hope and Mel MacLean Motors, New Glasgow. Later, he partnered with his brother, Gerald, operating Farrell’s Used Cars, Pine Tree for many years. John was a member of the former St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Thorburn. He enjoyed playing cards every Saturday night with his family while they enjoyed a few beers. Johnny always seemed to win “the big hand”. He enjoyed the company of his pet dog, Frosty, whom he dearly missed and his cat, Skinny Minnie, who he treated like a dog. Johnny enjoyed taking walks, tending his garden, and listening to old country music. His smile and dry sense of humour will be missed by those he loved.
