Obituary of Frederick Bonvie

Frederick “Fred” Bonvie, 83, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 21, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Edward and Mildred (Cake) Bonvie.  Prior to retirement, Fred was a foreman with the Town of New Glasgow for many years.  He enjoyed spending time at the camp at Lochaber Lake. Fred was an outdoorsman who appreciated wildlife and nature. He was a quiet gentleman who possessed a strong work ethic and sense of loyalty.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Marion (MacLaren); granddaughters, Madison Bonvie (Mike), Halifax; Bryden Bonvie (Anthony), New Glasgow; great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Finnigan and Adam; brother-in-law, Jerry MacLaren, Little Harbour; many cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Michael; sister, Florence Works; brother-in-law, Bill Works.

The family will receive visitors 1-3 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023, in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow followed by a graveside service in Lorne Street Cemetery, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
