Obituary of Jose Antonio Menezes

Jose Antonio Menezes, 67, New Glasgow, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Faial, Azores, Portugal he as the son of the late Antonio Cabasa and Maria Albina (DeCosta) Menezes.  At the age of three he immigrated to California with his family, where he was raised and educated. He was employed as a purchasing manager with San-I-Pak, Tracy, California for many years before moving to New Glasgow in 2003, where he was employed with Convergys until December 2022.  Jose enjoyed “everything” electronic and problem solving. He and his wife, Brenda, enjoyed doing everything together.  Jose referred to his chihuahua’s, Lenny, Teddy, and Makayla as his “babies” and they were always with him. He will be fondly remembered as the family “foodie” but most of all, as a wonderful man who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife, the love of his life, Brenda (Robson); children, Christopher Menezes, Regina, Sask.; Amanda Vassey, Hawaii; Tara (Brandon) Wright, and David Menezes, California; step-children, Alicia MacLeod (Glen), Foxbrook; Robbie (Rodlanda) MacLeod, Shane (Sarah) MacLeod, and Kyle MacLeod, Crossfield, Alta.; grandchildren, Landie, Payson, Keanu, Hali, Emma and Zach; step-grandchildren, Parker, Megan, Declan, Gracie and Clara; sister, Marie Lourdes (Humberta) Garcia, California; goddaughter/niece, Lisa Garcia;  niece, Sandy Sous; nephew, Tony Garcia; several cousins in Portugal.

The family will receive visitors 10-10:50 a.m. Saturday, November 18 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Mr. John Reeves officiating.
