Obituary of Diane Williams
Alice “Diane” Williams, 76, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully in the home she was raised, on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 14, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow on November 19, 1946, she was a daughter of the late James Alfred “Alf” and Elmira Elizabeth (Paris) Elms. She was a member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow where she served on the Ladies Auxiliary and with the AUBA. In younger years she thoroughly enjoyed CGIT. Diane was employed as a Personal Care Worker with Sunset Haven Rest Home, New Glasgow for over 40 years. She enjoyed, knitting, sewing, baking, ceramics, and making preserves. Diane loved people and was affectionately known by many as “momma Di”, “aunt Di” or “nanny Di”. She was a very kind and hospitable person, who enjoyed sharing all she had with others. She daily told Bill how much she loved him and that she thanked God for having had him in her life for over 56 years. Diane experienced fulfilment when her “pride and joy”, Sonya, was born, and they shared a special bond until her passing. She was very proud of her granddaughter, Savana and was extremely happy to have become “GG” to her “darlings”, Brayden, and Dakota. Diane will be lovingly remembered for her “gift of gab” and her “heart of gold”.
Surviving are her husband 50 years, William “Bill” Williams; daughter, Sonya Williams (Wayne), New Glasgow; granddaughter, Savana Barron, New Glasgow; great-grandchildren, Brayden, and Dakota LeBlanc, New Glasgow; brother, Foster (Verna) Elms, New Glasgow; a special niece; several nephews; many cousins.
