Elizabeth Marie “Betty” Campbell, 96, Frasers Mountain, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, Friday, January 5, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born in Trenton, she was a daughter of the late Walter Joseph and Ethel Lorena (Leadbeater) Shanahan. Betty attended schools in Trenton and New Glasgow.  Following she worked at Woolworth’s until starting her family. In younger years, she was an active skater, avid camper, and volunteer with “meals on wheels”. Betty was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow where she served with the Catholic Women’s League for many years. She devoted her life to her family, along with her husband, Hugh, lovingly raising their six children. Betty was an excellent baker and was well known for her bread.  She listened to music continuously, especially, Foster and Allen, and orchestrated many family sing songs.  Betty enjoyed playing cards whether winning or losing. She was a very social person who possessed a loveable personality. For Betty, “Life has changed; not ended!”
