Obituary of Norman Edward MacIntosh
Norman Edward “Rooster” MacIntosh, 67, Plymouth, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at home, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Lewis McArthur and Rona Winnefred (Cottie) MacIntosh. Rooster was a self-employed autobody repairman and mechanic for many years. He enjoyed restoring old cars and took great pride in his work. Rooster is best described as a man who would “give you the shirt off his back”. During the past years, he demonstrated great strength of character as he faced numerous health issues. His family believes that Rooster was given his own guardian angel due to the number of times he cheated death. Most of all, he treasured his role as grandfather, enjoying the moments spent with his grandchildren and watching them grow. He will be remembered for his strength, generosity, and protective nature.
Surviving are his daughter, Lorraine DeYoung, Plymouth; son, Tommy (Nicole) Atwell, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Kyla Kirwan, Riley Hillier, Madison Hillier and Noah Hillier; sisters, Susan Russell, Dartmouth; Laurie MacIntosh, Antigonish; brother-in-law, Allan MacLeod, Mountville; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Sheldon DeYoung; sister, Neilla MacLeod; brother, Raymond MacIntosh.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Sunday, January 21 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Castle Hill Cemetery, McLellan’s Brook.
