The "Aikens" family shares in the loss of our dear Aunt Mildred. We fondly remember the many family gatherings in New Glasgow, with her and Uncle Hi, and family reunions in Belle Dune, New Brunswick. Aunt Mildred was a true Nova Scotian; a kind and gentle woman; prim and proper was always her persona; she had a quick wit that was always accompanied by a twinkle in her eye!!
She will be dearly missed and we know that she has found her "Happy Place'" with all those who have gone before her.
To live to 102 was remarkable and she would never tell you her age!! Personally, we had the opportunity to visit with her in 2022 and when we booked our AirB&B, we had no idea that it would turn out to be in the old Aikens home. Was that karma?
May all of us draw strength and comfort from the fond memories of this wonderful lady....
With our deepest sympathy, thoughts and love to all of Mildred's family,
Vern and Jan Aikens

Thinking of your life today. I have fond memories of spending time at your house in New Glasgow. Val and I enjoyed your hospitality during an Aikens reunion. Your quiet nature and your delicious biscuits come to mind. Our condolences go out to your family. What a life long lived. I'm attaching a small photo of you taken in 1942. Rest in peace. Love Cathy (Aikens), Val and Jack Sanna

I am so happy my sisters and I got to meet Cecil and Mildred in 2010 during our visit to find our dad Ewen’s family. The first picture was of Cecil and Mildred taking us out to the farm our dad was raised on and where his Aunt Theresa lived. The next two pictures were at Cecil and Mildreds’s home. The last picture is their cocker spaniel Rosie, which was a rescue they had adopted. I too had cocker spaniels at home waiting for me to return from our trip! Thanks for the great memories, RIP Mildred.
