Obituary of Kandy Michele Clyburne

ROCKY MOUNTAIN - It is with profound sadness, the family of the late Kandy Michele Clyburne, 63, of Rocky Mountain, announce her entrance into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Born on February 10, 1961, in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Bryce Hubert and Joyce (Campbell) (Coldwell) Merchant. Kandy was an administrative assistant with the Chignecto Regional School Board for many years. Kandy is described by her children as “an angel on earth – you couldn’t find anyone more genuine or kind”. She was a determined, intelligent, self-sacrificing, “ray of sunshine” who was always trying to help anyone she could. Her daughters fondly remember a childhood filled with protection and love. It was Kandy’s top priority to be an excellent “mom” and when she became a “nanny” her joy (and grampa Laurie’s) was full.

When Kandy met Laurie, how she lit up, a light she hadn’t prioritized while raising her children as a single mom. The love and care she received from Laurie many do not receive in a lifetime; they accepted each other no matter what and stayed true to their vows though sickness and health. Her daughters were happy knowing that she would always be cared for and that Laurie would always be at her side.  Kandy’s faith in God was renewed each morning and claimed over all those she loved.  Her family, although devastated, are comforted that the Lord has blessed her, by taking her home to be with Him.

Surviving are her husband, Lawrence Neil “Laurie” Clyburne; daughters, Tasha MacDonald (Dan Dean), Chanci MacDonald (Chris MacDonald); granddaughters, Madalynn, Evelyn and Avyn; sister, Dr. Sherri Coldwell (Doug Nickerson); step-sister, Susan Merchant; brothers, Barry Coldwell; Robbie (Gail) Coldwell; nephew, Bryce Nickerson; several step-nieces and nephews.

Besides her father, Bryce, she was predeceased by her stepfather, Ron Merchant; stepbrothers, Garry and Nigel Merchant.

Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 19 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel with Rev. Derrick Ellsworth officiating.  Private interment will be in Lorne Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Kandy’s memory to Bethany United Church, East River St. Mary’s.

So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again;

                         then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.” John 16:22 NLT
