Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Cameron

 

LINACY/NEW GLASGOW – Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Cameron, 83, New Glasgow and Linacy, passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 6, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of her family, after a well lived life.

 

Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Alfred and Lucy Josephine (Murray) Mitchell. Betty was a supportive and loving wife to her late husband, Mel, and together they raised five children whom they adored. Betty truly loved people and thoroughly enjoyed her 31 plus years as a sales associate with Charm and Crescent Jewelers. When not working, she enjoyed playing cards, especially, Rummoli and playing Bingo. As a true “people person”, Betty enjoyed singing, dining out and dancing, especially, jive. She regularly hosted get-togethers at her home every week or more often, when possible. Betty was a beautiful lady whose essence will live on in her family.

 

Surviving are her daughters, Kathy (Clyde) Dinham, New Glasgow; Marsha (Adam) Burden, Linacy; Wendy (Dennis) Vienneau, Plymouth; Wanda Cameron, New Glasgow; son, Roddie (Bertha) Cameron, Linacy/Stellarton; grandchildren, Rachael, Ricky, Bruce, Gary and Jeff; great-grandsons, Justin and Crew; great, great-granddaughters, Olivia and Finley Rose; brother, Harvey (Shirley) Mitchell, Trenton; “like-a-daughter”, Kim Earle, Trenton; brothers-in-law, Robert “Sonny” Cameron, Scotsburn; Weldon “Weddy”

 

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Melvin Ross “Mel” Cameron; father and mother-in-law, William Halver “Bill” and Annie Ellen (Wallace) Cameron; sisters-in-law, Dorothy “Dolly” Cameron and June Kureth; brother-in-law, Elwood Kureth, Sr.; nephew, Elwood Kureth, Jr.

 

The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 8 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 9 with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.  Interment will be in Lorne Street Cemetery.

 

Donations may be made in Betty’s memory to Lorne Street Cemetery.

 

Betty’s family wish to thank her family physician, Dr. Gregor MacLean and the Aberdeen Hospital staff for the wonderful care she received.
