Obituary of Josh Stephen Cooley

 

Josh Stephen Cooley, 21, Thorburn, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024.
 

Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of Stephen Jeffery and Denise Dawn (McMullen) Cooley, Thorburn. He was a member of the 2020 North Nova Educational Centre graduating class. Josh was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Weeks Construction. Josh as an avid hunter and fisher. He loved the outdoors, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, dirt biking and spending time at the family cottage at the Garden of Eden. Josh is lovingly described as the “life of the party”, an accomplished “prankster” and “jokester”.  When he was not working, his canine pal, Gunner, was always by his side. Josh was Mallory’s “big brother” in every sense of the word, he loved her deary and always looked out for her. He was his mom and dad’s “baby boy” of whom they were proud of the man he had become.  Josh will be fondly remembered for his perseverance, ability to live life to the fullest and love of family.

  

Surviving are his parents, Stephen and Denise; sister, Mallory Cooley, Thorburn; girlfriend, Kayla Flinn, Stellarton; maternal grandparents, Stephen and Donna (Webb) McMullen, Linacy; maternal aunt, Stephanie (Jimmy) MacLean, Thorburn; maternal great-grandparents, Ann and Gar Darroch, New Glasgow; paternal grandparents, Greg and Isabel (Hughes) Cooley, Thorburn; paternal uncle, Brad (Shannon) Cooley, Shakespear, Ont.; cousins, Abby and Natasha Cooley, Shakespear, Ont.; numerous great aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.

 

He was predeceased by maternal great-grandparents, Bill and Emily Webb; paternal great-grandparents, Charlie and Marion Cooley; Harry and Catherine Hughes; great-uncles, Doug and Raymond Cooley, Harold Hughes.

 

The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2024, in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. 

 

A Celebration of Life will be held 1 – 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 16 in the IOOF Hall, 492 Thorburn Road, Thorburn.

 

Donations may be made in memory of Josh to the Pictou County Snow Riders.
