Obituary of John Elliott MacDonald

John Elliott MacDonald, 66, New Glasgow, formerly of Telford, passed away, Sunday, July 21, 2024.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late John James “Jackie” and Clarice Mable (MacLaren) MacDonald. Raised in Telford, John attended East Pictou Rural High School.  He was employed as a backhoe operator with M & M Trenching Ltd., Calgary, Alta., for many years before moving back home in 2020. While living in Calgary, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Rocky Mountain Foothills. John will be remembered for his perseverance, work ethic, quiet disposition, love of crossword puzzles and dry sense of humour.

Surviving are his daughter, Melissa, Calgary, Alta.; grandsons, Scott and Owen, Calgary; sister, Wilda MacDonald, Gaffney, S.C.; brothers, Keith (Allison), Halifax; Grant, New Glasgow; Colin, Telford; nieces and nephews, Tara, Rebekah, David, Laura, Fraser and Cameron; great-nieces and nephews, Devin, Mackenzie, Everleigh and Elaya; aunt,  Joann MacDonald, Plymouth; many cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marion (Muscik); aunts, Joyce MacLeod, Mary MacLaren, and Louise MacLaren; uncles, Edgar MacDonald, Vernon MacLaren, Joe MacLaren and Maurice MacLeod. 

John will be laid to rest, in private ceremony, beside his mum and dad in Telford Cemetery, Pictou County.
