Obituary of Marina Coady

 

Dorothy Marina Eleanor Coady, 85, MacPhersons Mills, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at home, surrounded by the love of her family.

 

Born on May 27, 1939 in Minto, N.B., she was a daughter of the late James Cecil and Mabel (Davis) Nightingale.  Marina was a devote member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Westville, who loved to share her faith, read the Holy Bible and attend meetings at the Kingdom Hall with her friends.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, drawing, crafts, listening to music, dancing, writing poetry and gardening. Marina enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, taking scenic photos and going for long country drives with her late husband, John.  They enjoyed building several camps and cabins.  Most of all, Marina enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She will forever cherished and remain in the memory and heart of her children and grandchildren.

 

Surviving are her daughters, Donna (Fred) Ohrling, Iron Rock; Marina (Robert) Odo, Linacy; Valerie (Fred) Croke, Cook’s Book; Tanya Crossan (Harry Daigle), Moncton, N.B.; Shelley (Mike) Ferguson, MacPhersons Mills; “like a daughter”, Julie Moser, New Glasgow; son, John Coady (Lori Matheson), Salt Springs; grandchildren, Crystal, Brittany, Jacqueline, Cody, Adam, Shaun, Angela, Steven and Cole; great-grandchildren, Josie, Isabel, Amber, Jessica, Shyanne, Michael, Ariana, Caylee, Jade, Cooper, Ryan and Frederick; sisters, Florence (Delbert) Calhoune, Fredericton, N.B.; Shirley (Ray) Phillips, Cumberland, N.B.; Jeannette Tovers, Frederiction; brothers, Ronnie (Ramona) Nightingale, Minto; Leonard (Martha) Nightingale, Fredericton; Holly Nightingale, Minto; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John; grandson, Robert Odo; siblings, Mary (Larry) Goguen, Delmer (Ruth) Nightingale; Lee (Joan) Nightingale; Evelyn Goguen; Ramona (Nick) Nahornove.

 

The family will receive visitors form 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 8 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow with Words of Comfort to follow by Ricky Watson.  Cremation to follow with burial of ashes 10 a.m. Monday, August 12 in MacPherson’s Mills Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Marina’s memory to Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnessess or Pictou County Palliative Care Society.
