Obituary of Sandy Livingstone

Allan Alexander "Sandy" Livingstone

  March14, 1962 – August 7, 2024

With his sons and their mother by his side, and his daughter and grandsons forever in his heart, Sandy passed away peacefully in the palliative care unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, at the age of 62, following a tough and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in New Glasgow, Sandy was the second youngest son of the late Robert “Big Bob” and Alice Margaret (Cameron) Livingstone. Sandy was employed for many years as a truck driver, most recently with Quality Concrete. It was a profession he excelled at and took pleasure in. He enjoyed nothing more than spending the day out fishing and taking in nature with his son, AJ. They shared many laughs and made many happy memories whether the fish were biting or not. He and Alex shared an interest in Mixed Martial Arts and enjoyed watching UFC on Saturday night. Sandy was very proud his baby girl, Laney, and the wonderful mother she became. He enjoyed a good NASCAR race, collecting antiques and interesting memorabilia, playing crib, spending time with family and friends, and sharing a sarcastic joke. His easy-going ways, gratitude and appreciation for the kindness of other and willingness to always return the favor, and his ability to “roll with the punches” and find something positive in the worst of situations, will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving Sandy are his sons, Cameron Alexander “Alex”, and his son, Cameron; Allan Jacob “AJ”; daughter, Elizabeth Delaney “Laney” and her children, Bradley and Navy; mother of his children, Kim Cameron; brother, Robbie (Ann), MacPhersons Mills; sister, Janet (John) Hill, Thorburn; sister,  Barbie (Serge) Beland, British Columbia; sister-in-law, Rebecca Livingstone,  British Columbia; brother-in-law, Kenny Sheaves, Saskatchewan; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Wayne and sister, Judy Sheaves;  sister-in-law, Cindy Livingstone;  nephews, Ricky Livingstone and Robbie Beland.

In honour of Sandy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place at a later date in Telford Cemetery.

Donations in Sandy’s memory may be made to the Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Fund, IWK Foundation, or Canadian Cancer Society.

Sandy’s children and extended family send out heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Aberdeen Hospital for their excellent care and compassion, and to everyone who took the time to visit and offer their support to Sandy and our family during the end of his time with us. Your kindness will be forever remembered and appreciated.
