Obituary of Alice May MacLellan

Alice May MacLellan passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024, at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.

Alice was born on August 11, 1925, in Mayfield, Sussex, England to parents Walter and Nellie Page. She met her future husband, Roderick Gordon MacLellan of Churchville, Pictou County, at a dance for servicemen/women in her village. She immigrated to Canada (Pier 21-Halifax) in 1945 with a child in tow and one on the way! Dad had already returned to Nova Scotia. They settled in Plymouth, Pictou County where she remained until two years ago. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Gordon, her parents, sister, Marjorie and brother, Herbert; son-in-law, Donald Betts; granddaughter, Holly Lin Forbes; many family members and friends who will be waiting for her with opened arms.

Mom is survived by daughters; Eileen Betts, Sandra Grebeldinger (Gerry Hull); Carol (Bob) Forbes; Jane (Kairens) MacDonald and Nieva MacLellan who all reside in Nova Scotia. Mom is also survived by grandchildren: Damien (Helena) Betts, St. John's; Meghan Betts, Churchville; Ryan Forbes (Nicole), Ottawa; Rod Forbes (Holly Kirwan), Calgary; Kimberly Pochini (Oliver Browning), Truro; Kendall MacDonald (Anita Dunne), High River; Keeley Zinck (Devin), Antigonish. Mom adored her great grandchildren: Sasha Betts, Alice and Lucy Forbes, Hayes Forbes, Gordon and Audrey Zinck.

Mom could quickly and easily do any handcraft. In particular, she was a skilled fiber artist and was known for her quality knitting and crocheting. Mom loved her flower gardens and enjoyed having the windowsills full of plants and floral bouquets that covered her chest of drawers at Glen Haven.

At her request, she has been cremated and she further requests there be no funeral services or connected events. Instead, Mom wants you to sit and take in nature and enjoy the flowers! Mom will rest alongside her husband, Gordon, at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens in Lyons Brook.
