Obituary of Jerome David Kenny

Jerome David “the mate” Kenny, 89, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of White Hill, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024, in the Villa.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late James Anthony and Catherine (Gosbee) Kenny. Jerome was an excellent carpenter and licensed cabinet maker. Prior to retirement, he was a Nova Scotia Housing inspector for over 20 years. Jerome loved hunting and spending time at the camp in West Branch Lake. He enjoyed countless hours in his 12-foot fiberglass boat on the lake. Jerome was happiest at the camp, surrounded by family and friends. He never lost his love of carpentry, always rebuilding or adding a piece to something.  Jerome enjoyed spending time in his shop working or sitting with a cold beer telling stories.

In his early twenties, he boxed professionally in the area with a record of 32 wins and 1 loss. He was a diehard Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan.  For Jerome, “life has changed; not ended!”

Surviving are his daughter, Karen O’Brien, White Hill; sons, Jerry (Beverly) Kenny and George Kenny, White Hill; grandchildren, Jenna, Leah, Mitchell and Robbie; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Owen, Kenzie and Victor; sister, Angeline Stevens (Lloyd Harris), New Glasgow; brother, Lloyd Kenny, Scotsburn; sisters-in-law, Theresa Kenny, Trenton; Marion Kenny, Lorne; Beverly Kenny, New Glasgow; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Louise “Marg” (Austin) Kenny; daughter, Kimberley Vienneau; grandson, Jason Vienneau; sisters, Mable Bradberry and Elva MacLean; brothers James, Terry, Ross, Alex, Leo and Roy; sister-in-law, Mary Kenny and Marion Kenny. 

The family will receive visitor 10-10:50 a.m. Monday, August 12 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson presiding.  Interment will be in Christ the King Cemetery, Trenton. 

Donations may be made in Jerome's memory to the Pictou County VON and Pictou County SPCA.
