Obituary of David Darren Dwyer

David Darren Dwyer, 64, Chance Harbour, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late John Francis and Doris Violet (MacKenzie) Dwyer.  David was employed with McDonald’s Restaurant, New Glasgow for 24 years. His strong work ethic, loyalty and commitment was a true testament to his character, which he displayed on and off the job. For his love of playing and singing, he was affectionately called, “Papa Guitar”. David was very artistic, producing beautiful sketches, personalized cakes and sewing “magic”. He could “turn his hand to anything”, he analyzed every problem and always found a solution. David’s wonderful sense of humour, and ability to make everyone around him laugh will not soon be forgotten. He was thoughtful, caring and demonstrated his love for his family, daily, though his actions. His wife, Gail, lovingly recalls that he “supported every cockamamie idea I ever had”. David was his families “rock”, he stood beside his wife and children, no matter what they were going through. His love of family knew no bounds.  David possessed faith in Christ and now experiences the reality of his faith.  He will be dearly missed by those he loved and all who loved him.

Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Gail (MacLean) Dwyer; daughters, Robyn (Joseph) Anderson, Stellarton; Kayla (Josh) Askeland, Stellarton; son, Evan Dwyer (Tiffany), Chance Harbour; grandchildren, Tad, Noah, Faith, Cash, Jace, Sadie, Chett, Jude, Ruby and Chase; sisters, Caroline Pettipas, New Glasgow; Sheila Coady, Priestville; Velvet Coady, Priestville; Teresa (Gary) MacKenzie, New Glasgow; brother, John (Sandra) Dwyer, Stellarton; sister-in-law, Elsie Stewart, Prince Edward Island; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Dawn Dwyer in infancy; brothers, James Stewart and Milton Stewart; brothers-in-law, Leo Pettipas, George Coady and Ranny Coady.

In honour of David’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
