Obituary of Betty Jones
Elizabeth Marie “Betty” Jones, 100, Acadia Avenue, Stellarton, formerly of California and Thorburn, went Home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Saturday, August 17, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Thorburn, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Ella (MacDonald) Ryan. Prior to retirement, she had been employed with Scottish Mills, Windsor; Eaton’s (Alterations), Halifax; Imperial Tobacco Plant and Canadair, Montreal, Que. Betty also worked for Litton Ltd., California for 19 years. She worshiped with Christians Gathered to the Lord’s Name, Kirk Avenue, Stellarton and very much appreciated the care and love she received from her Christian family.
Surviving are her sister, Joan Dyer, Billerica, Massachusetts; granddaughter, Amelia Saulnier, Cole Harbour; grandson, Jon Saulnier, Toronto, Ont.; niece, Ellen (Bob) Peters, Lismore; nephews, Billy and Ken Dyer, Billerica; Michael (Judy) MacDonald, Victoria, B.C.; Damian MacDonald, Thorburn; Gregory (Margie) MacDonald, Plymouth; niece-in-law, Anne MacDonald, Thorburn; several grandnieces and grandnephews; friend and caregiver, Mary Jane MacKenzie.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harold S. Jones; daughter, Brenda Saulnier; sister, Anna MacDonald; brothers-in-law, John MacDonald and William Dyer; niece, Mary Dyer; nephew, Gerald MacDonald.
The family will receive visitors 2-2:50 p.m. Friday, August 23 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. with Mr. Stan Allan officiating. Interment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Thorburn with reception to follow at 32 Kirk Avenue, Stellarton.
Donations may be made in Betty’s memory to the Pictou County SPCA or Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Fund.
