Obituary of Darrell Wayne Thorne

Darrell Wayne Thorne, 58, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 19, 2024, in Toronto, Ont.

Born in Halifax on January 4, 1966, he was the son of the late Georgina (Gibson) Thorne and Wesley (Butch) Thorne. Following the death of his parents, Darrell was raised with his aunt, Gordena (Gibson) Earle, New Glasgow and uncle, Roger Earle. Darrell loved his “second” mom and dad dearly. Darrell was an electronics “whiz”, having an innate ability to understand processes and functions. He enjoyed working with mechanical systems and often helped his friends repair their cars. Above all, he was a loving father, son and brother, proud grandfather and “best” uncle.

Surviving besides his “second” mom, Gordena are his daughters, Shyan Desmond (Norman), Mississauga, Ont.; Nyah Thorne (Jason), Georgetown, Ont.; Denise Thorne, Malton, Ont.; “children special to his heart”, Selena Desmond, Toronto; Jessie, Georgetown; Michael Desmond, Toronto; sister, Marlene Thorne (Dervyn), Brampton, Ont.; nephew, Courtney; many cousins.

A Celebration of Darrel’s Life will be held 2 – 6 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024 in the Ward One Community Centre, 487 Brother Street, New Glasgow.
