Incredible sadness for the Perkins clan. Alan, Nora and Emily and grandbabes and Lornie we are so sorry to say goodbye to the 5th grandchild of grandpa Perkins. Nanny was so talented, passionate, funny and cleaver. As her nearest cousin, I will truly miss our November birthday calls and our in depth (catch up) conversations. Her smile will not be forgotten and her beautiful dance moves at Jacob’s Pillow remembered. Graceful and sarcastic and humble was our Nanny. Her little snicker of a laugh saw us through our early days.
Thinking of you all. Blessings
Cousin Sandy

Dear cousins,
It is with a saddened heart that the Perkins family is saying goodby to one of the most creative, interesting, talented people we know. Nanny, I have known you all of my life and it’s just not right to have you gone. I miss our November birthday calls and you were supposed to carry the torch for our 18 younger cousins. Alan, Nora and Emily we love you and we’ll miss our Nanny.
What a legacy she’s left us.
Lots of love, cousin Sandy

Dear Alan, Nora, and Emily,
I was deeply saddened to hear about Nancy's passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.
I have fond memories of when Nancy and Alan gave me a drive to Montreal after I had recently moved there. When Nancy greeted me at her door, I noticed we were both wearing bandanas. Staying at your home felt so comforting, with its beautiful quilts and lovingly hung tapestries. The next morning, we left early, with Alan determined to make good time. Aside from fueling up, we didn't stop, or take breaks. We were just cruising.
Throughout the drive, Nancy spoke to me with genuine interest and curiosity. I was touched by how lovingly she spoke about Nora and Emily. About 12 hours later, as we finally approached the island of Montreal, I remember some spirited debates about the best route to take. It was a great trip and I'll always be grateful for that ride.
Nancy was a strong, beautiful, and resilient person, and I will always be grateful for her kindness.

Dear Alan, Nora and Emily,
My condolences to you. My memories of Nancy go back fifty years to 1974 when the first of many Women’s Consciousness Raising meetings was held in your home. It was an enlightening time and the awareness gained influenced the beginnings of the Pictou County Women’s Centre promoting women’s health. This centre is still in existence today!
Nancy will be missed. She was a wonderful storyteller with her quick wit and dry sense of humour.

I'm so sorry guys, Nancy was a big part of my life growing up and so were you Alan, Nora and Emily. Lots of great memories from Christmas carolling parties and dressers full of Archie comics! I'll always remember her dry sense of humour and laugh. My Mom will miss her terribly.

Dear Alan, Nora and Emmy. You have our deepest condolences. May you be comforted and your memories be a blessing to you in the coming years. We were good friends in the '70s, all of us struggling to cultivate not only the earth but deeply meaningful lives. We laughed and cried together and gave our best support to each other. You are in our hearts forever!
So sorry we cannot be with you for the Celebration of Life because we'll be in Montreal, visiting our little family (Rachel, Dan, Jacob and Nathan).

Dear Alan, Nora, Emily and families,
We are numbed by the news of Nancy’s passing. How does something like this happen to someone you’ve known for so long? Don’t things stay the same forever? Why don’t things stay the same forever?
As the nerve center of a vast social network, Nancy’s death leaves a palpable hole in the community, and a large one in our hearts. She loved all things social and made the best of her time while health allowed.
We hope you three now have an opportunity for time to start its healing, and know that you have our deepest sympathies.
Love,
Rick, Alice, Adelaide, and Meredith

Dear Allan, Nora, Emily, and Families
When we first moved to West River Station in the early 8O’s
Our Mom,Joan Fortune, was having a difficult time adjusting to life in the country. That’s when our Dad,Ralph, came home and said. I just met the nicest family at the bottom of the road. Nancy is coming to meet you tomorrow. From that day on a friendship and sisterhood formed that lasted a lifetime. Nancy was a kind, loyal, and loving friend to my Mom. She faithfully picked her up for their weekly trips to town that always started with a visit. Nancy loved updating us on her Family and Grandchildren who she was so proud of. Nancy was one of a kind with a heart of gold and so interesting to talk with. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you, Love Leanne and Sandra
