Obituary of Susan Sangster
Susan Sangster, 78, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Linacy, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Esther Riggs. She was employed at Sunshine Cleaners for many years and then went to work at a pawn shop for a few years before retirement. She was a member of the Linacy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over 30 years. Susan was a faithful member of St. Georges Anglican Church, New Glasgow, where she volunteered in the office for many years. She was a member the Ladies Alter Guild and actively supported many aspects of the church, including the soup kitchen and enjoyed being a greeter on Sunday mornings. Susan enjoyed working with ceramics, which allowed her creativity to shine. She was an excellent baker, and her baked goods were always in demand by family and friends. Most of all, Susan enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand fur babies.
Surviving are her sons Michael (Gail), Lyons Brook; Jamie (Ronalda), Trenton; Brian (Trina), Bedford; Bruce (Lisa), Amherst; grandchildren, Kristen (Matt), Morgan (Patrick), Caitlyn (Austin), Kayla, Patrick (Janelle), Brianna, Brittany, JamieLee, Tyler (Allanah) and Lucas (Elizabeth), Camden and Brenna;j great-grandchildren, Avery, Eliott, Ben and Isla; sisters, Cassie, Phyllis, Joanne; brothers, Bruce, Charlie; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband William “Bill” Sangster; daughter, Angela in infancy; sister, Francis Cameron; brother, Roy Riggs.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 7 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 8 in St. George’s Anglican Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Jeanne Hunter officiating. A reception will follow in the Linacy Fire Hall.
Donations may be made in Susan’s memory to St. George’s Anglican Church or Make-A-Wish Canada.
