Obituary of Virginia Mombourquette
Mary “Virginia” Mombourquette, 71, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Gertrude Alma (Pitts) and Sidney Russell Betts. Virginia was a loving wife and mother to three children. As the years progressed, she was a second mother to many nieces, nephews and grandchildren who continued to seek her counsel as they grew. Virginia was a wonderful caregiver to many children of neighbours and friends, leaving a lasting legacy.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bill Mombourquette; daughter Lisa (Bobby) MacLane; sons, Michael (Tara), and Mark; grandchildren, Stephen, James, Harrison, Madelyn, Jaxon, and Callie; sisters, Carolyn (Tim) Brennen, Julia Freeman (Derek), and Theresa (Steve) Farrell; brothers, Sid (Dorothy) and John; brother-in-law, Raymond Gregory; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her grandson, Hayden Mombourquette; sisters, Rita Arnold and Sylvia Gregory; brother, Stan Betts; brother-in-law, Joe Arnold; father-in-law, Fred Mombourquette and mother-in-law, Agnes (Gillis) Mombourquette.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Monday, November 11 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 12 in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with
Father Peter MacDonald presiding. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Virginia’s family would like to thank Dr. Lum, all the nurses and staff on the 4th floor of the Aberdeen Hospital, all of the EHS paramedics, and the VON who provided home support before hospitalization.
