John was such a kind and friendly soul. He and I would go for coffee and have wonderful discussions. He always talked about his family. and he always asked about mine. One day, the topic of baseball came up. We talked about our favorite teams, and the subject of the Strat-O-Matic baseball game up. For years and year I had always wanted to learn that game and play it with somone. Well, John said he had played it many times, and, in fact, had a game of his own. He invited me over to play a couple of times, and it was so much fun. John, thank you for the times we had together that I will always cherish. Rest in peace, my friend.

Marilyn & family...I was so saddened to hear of Pastor John's passing. I will never forget how he comforted me during the empty nesting when Christina went off to Dalhousie Univ. in Halifax. How proud John was of you , Ben and Sarah. He lit up when he spoke of each of you. May you all be comforted as you recall the many memories you hold in your hearts. God Bless each one.

Dear Marilyn, Sarah, Benjamin and Families:
There's a hole in my heart as I try to do ordinary things around the house today. I feel so far away from all of you - my family. We mourn for ourselves at a time like this - knowing no-one will ever take John's place. For him, it is a release from the pain he was in.
A donation has been made to Dalhousie Medical Foundation for Cancer Research in memory of John.
Because of winter road conditions, I am unable to join you on Thursday or Friday.
All our love
Aunt Karen, Darin and Lana

My heartfelt belated condolences to Pastor John Dunnett's family and friends. He will be greatly missed and I know he is watching over us all from above. I had the privilege of meeting Pastor John during a very difficult time in my life several years ago; I will never forget the gentle knock on my door and the kind smile on his face...he arrived as my Pastor but left as my friend.
Pastor John, I hope you continue singing with the angels.

So very sorry to hear of John's passing. I loved his preaching at Kennebecasis Baptist. You could tell he was very proud of Ben and Sarah. He always talked to me when we did the Kraft dinner for KVH. He is now with the Lord and I know the Lord has a great helper with him now. May God hold Marilyn, Sarah and Ben in his arms to get through this hard time. God bless.

To all of John's family: I got to know John through the Pictou County Council of Churches. He was a man of sterling worth whose faith shone like a diamond. I greatly admired him and his Christian witness and it was indeed a shock to learn of his passing. Please accept my condolences at this time of great sorrow, May John rest in peace and rise in glory

Marilyn, Benjamin ,Sarah, and family.
We were saddened to read the obituary for John. We have fond memories of John from our time at Acadia Divinity College, and from the times the Lord caused our paths to cross. We are grateful that John heard and obeyed the call of the Lord Jesus, who says, "Follow Me." Mark 1:17 We are grateful that John followed the Lord Jesus in discipleship. We are grateful for John's example as a husband, father and pastor. Also, we are grateful for the words of the Lord Jesus, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me though he die, yet shall he live." John 11:25 We are remembering you in prayer.

To Marilyn, Ben, Sarah and extended family,
Extending most deepest and sincere condolences to all of you. John touched so many lives in a variance of ways. One person has so many roles in the earthly life that is lived: husband, father, sibling, pastor, friend. All will mourn the loss of such a wonderful person. May God enfold his arms around you during this time of grief and grant you strength and courage in the days that follow.

Sincere condolences are extended to Marilyn, Sarah, Ben, and Families. Remembering John, Marilyn, and Family when we attended Kennebecasis Baptist Church while living in Quispamsis from 2010 to 2014. John was always so welcoming, and it didn't take long to start feeling right at home with our new church family. We speak fondly of the gathering held at the Dunnett household for pizza, and the many thoughtful Sunday sermons John so earnestly prepared for his congregation. Heavens gain is our loss. Thinking of you all at this difficult time.
In sympathy,
Kirk, Marsha, and Janessa Sweezey

So although I know John wanted only to be called John, I told him one time when we were having a good conversation that I could only call him Pastor John, because I felt so strongly that he was just that, my pastor. I had such a great respect for Pastor John and when I made the decision to be baptized in the Baptist Church, he was the pastor I wanted to baptize me. He will be so missed by everyone especially his dear family but Heaven will be all the sweeter because he is now there.
