Obituary of Evaline Alfreda MacNeil

 

Evaline Alfreda MacNeil, 88, wife of the late Michael Allan “Mike” MacNeil, New Glasgow passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 29, 2024, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow where she resided since July 25, 2024.

Born in Pictou on June 6, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Clayton Thomas and Helen Bernice (Stiles) Casey.  Prior to retirement in 1999, she had been employed with the Town of New Glasgow and prior, Atlantic Wholesalers. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton.  Evaline enjoyed knitting, quilting, and reading her Pictou Advocate which she received for years. Her highlight of the week was Kinsman TV Bingo. 

 

Surviving are daughters, Margaret (Gary) Webb, New Glasgow; Mary Priest (George), Priestville; Anne (Seymore) Dewtie, Irish Mountain; Helen “Sis” MacNeil (Ken), Island East River; Barb Smith (Lawrence), New Glasgow; son, Michael MacNeil (Mary-Lou), Kingston, Ont.; “chosen son” (grandson), James “Cricket” MacNeil, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Harold, Nicole, Tracy, Tammy, Jonah, Tommy, Amy, Darlene, Derrick, Allan, Fraser, Michael and Jillian; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Emma, Taylor, Braylin, Gracie, Carlin, Garyn, Rogan, Hallie, Jana, Catherine, Chassi, Carolina, Rigsby, Memphis, Alyssa, Abby, Ava, Elizabeth and Victoria; great, great-grandchildren, Jameson, Rhonin, Coulson, Waylon, Delilah, Ryder, Rhett, Ivan and Gabe; sister, Bernice; brothers, Milton and Kenny (Frances); sisters-in-law, Ann (Gar) Darroch and Marion MacNeil; many nieces and nephews.

  

She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Michael Allan “Mike” MacNeil; grandchildren, Bernadette Cameron, Billy and Jason Priest; brothers, Billy and Graham Casey; daughter-in-law, Jane MacNeil; sons-in-law, Bayne Cameron, Alvin Priest and Francis Smith; sister-in-law, Jean Casey.

  

In keeping with Evaline’s wishes there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held 2 p.m.  Friday, January 3, 2025, in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with Father Colin F. MacKinnon presiding. Private interment will be in the parish cemetery.

 

Evaline’s family wish to thank Saundra Cochrane for the love and friendship she tirelessly gave. They wish to thank the Glen Haven Manor, Whispering Tide staff for the wonderful care received.
