Gerald was always a fun-loving character who dispensed wit and barbs in equal proportions to all that had the privilege of knowing the man for his unique style. We had many grand adventures from his time meeting his relatives in Sudbury while slaving for Inco, to his outgoing hospitality entertaining us when time and circumstance allowed short visits down east to catch up on stories of the oil rigs across the ocean, evacuation of his oil rig during the conflict in the Falkland Islands, his duties in the construction of Confederation Bridge, of us picking tobacco down south and on and on. When I hear comments of his generosity, it reminded me of the time he showed up at my house with two coolers filled with lobsters, what a great day that was.
Although we kept in touch periodically to chat, it was never the same as the old days and situations we enjoyed, good or bad!
Susan and I are truly saddened for the loss of Gerald and extend our condolences to his wife Kathie, family and friends that are now grieving his passing.
