Obituary of Raye Emery Hamilton

KENZIEVILLE – Raye Emery Hamilton, 85, Kenzieville, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Raymond and Charlotte (Bezanson) Hamilton. Raye was a carpenter and worked in construction for many years. Raye was a 51-year member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 83, Stellarton. He was a founding member of the Barney’s River District Fire Department, where he served as Fire Chief for many years. Raye was a member of the Pictou County Fire Fighters Association. Raye enjoyed working with wood, building model cars, trucks, furniture and many other creations in his whittle shop. He also enjoyed traveling to Pinevale to fish. Raye was a member of Barney’s River Presbyterian Church, Kenzieville. He was a soft-spoken gentleman who will be dearly missed by those he loved. Surviving are sons, Raye, Leduc, Alta.; Paul (Darlene), Lower Barney’s River; Barry, Tappan, B.C.; grandchildren, Pamela (Jasion), Robbie (Amy), Roger and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Danté, Ryan and Callum; brother, Reginald “Reg” , Shorts Lake; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Doreen Elizabeth (Shore); sisters, Beatrice (Gordon) DeBruin and Martha (Doug) Rogers. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 2nd in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 3rd in Barney’s River Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. Interment will be in Kenzieville Cemetery.
