Obituary of Helen Louise MacDonald

PICTOU LANDING – Helen Louise MacDonald, 84, Pictou Landing, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 2, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Lismore, she was a daughter of the late Alexander Ronald “Sandy” and Mary Helen “Ella” (MacDonald) MacGillivray. Prior to retirement, Louise had been employed with Glen Haven Manor for many years. She was a member of the former Christ the King Roman Catholic Church. Louise enjoyed going for drives in the country, enjoying nature, especially, birds. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Through out her life, Louise often remarked how much she appreciated all her friends, especially her closest, Debbie, Peggy and Germaine. Most of all, Louise, loved her family and looked forward to each family gathering. For Louise, “Life has changed; not ended!” Surviving are her husband, Thomas “Tom” MacDonald; children, Franny (Joe) Chiarotto, Ottawa, Ont.; Thomas “Tom” (Bernadine) Kirk, Thorburn; Alexander “Sandy” (Karen) Kirk, Trenton; Bradley Kirk, Calgary, Alta.; Gregory (Geri) Kirk, Calgary; Linea (Delbert) Smith, Egerton; Jodeine (Devon) Wright, Merigomish; grandchildren, Damian, Brandon, Daniel, Shannon, Jade-Elise, Keith, Katelynn, Francis, Ashlie, Nick, Jessica, Bradley, Jenelle, Kyle, Georgia, Tanner and Regen; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Forsyth, Fort Erie, Ont.; Gordeen Donovan, Ontario; Donnie MacGillivray, Calgary; Jack (Florence) MacGillivray, Jerry (Ellie) MacGillivray, Doug (Debbie) MacGillivray and Karen (Paul) Travers all of Ontario; Charlie MacGillivray Calgary; Margaret “Peggy” MacGillivray, Scotsburn; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Laithe MacDonald; grandson, Kashton Wright; sisters, Hughena Anderson and Catherine “Betty” Wilkinson; brothers, Donnie MacGillivray in infancy and Angus MacGillivray. A private family visitation and graveside service will be held. Louise’s family wish to thank the Aberdeen Hospital ICU and 4th floor staff, Glen Haven Manor staff and, Dr. Peter Lee and staff for the wonderful care she received.
