Obituary of J. G. Harold. S. Brewer
PINE TREE – John Gilbert Harold Stevens Brewer, 83, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Pine Tree, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 10, 2020 in the Villa.
Born in Burin, Placentia Bay, N.L., he was a son of the late John and Frances Marguerite (Hodder) Brewer. In earlier years, Harold was employed as a fisherman aboard deep-sea draggers, then was employed as a labourer and chargehand with National Harbour Board, Halifax for over 13 years. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a welder fitter in the tank shop with the former Trenton Works. Harold was a member of Sutherland’s River Presbyterian Church where he had served on the Board of Managers and with the Men’s Club. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow. Harold was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and his canine pal, Ringo, four-wheeled all over many trials throughout the county. For Harold, “Life has changed; not end!”
Surviving are daughters, Frances (John) Murray, Pine Tree; Rosemary Brewer (Brian Thomson), Ottawa, Ont.; sons, Alexander “Alex” (Audrey), Thorburn; Harold, Pine Tree; Angus, Scotsburn; grandchildren, Lisa (Eddie), John (Beth), Lorraine (Alex), James (Jen), Luke, Gavin, Simon, Michelle, Christopher (Courtney), Stefan (Chelsea), Ryan and Mary; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Patricia, Edward, Kristen, Jake, Leland, Jacob, Kinsley, Andi, Lexi, Jaymelynn, Katie, Kyle, Alivia, Christopher Jr., Owen, Bennett and Banning; great, great-grandchildren, Jack and Wyatt; sisters, Margaret Rose (Ray) Madden, Ottawa, Ont.; many nieces, nephews and relatives in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary Marie (Rector); infant son, Theodore; granddaughter, Dana; son-in-law, Donnie MacKay; sisters, Louise (Vince) Norman, Carrie May (Billy) Noseworthy and Leona (Ambrose) Stacey.
A private graveside service will be held.
A public gathering will be held 1 - 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 15 at 248 Coalburn McLellans Brook Road, McLellans Brook.
