Obituary of Donald Clarence MacKay
SCOTSBURN – Donald Clarence MacKay, 68, Scotsburn, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 14, 2016 due to a tragic accident in his garden.
Born on March 17, 1947, he was son of the late Daniel Clarence and Christine Catherine (Ross) MacKay. Donald was a faithful member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn where he served as an elder for 32 years. He obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick. Prior to retirement, he had several careers, having been employed with sales with Xerox, work with Converges and had owned/operated a gift shop. In earlier years, he was actively involved as a leader with the Boy Scouts and Ventures. He enjoyed spending time with his boxers, Sugar and Ginger. Donald was an avid photographer and enjoyed nature. He shared his love of gardening with his husband, Angus. Donald wholly embraced his faith, which he shared with others in many ways, including simple acts of kindness.
Surviving are husband, Angus Brewer; step-children, Ryan and Mary Brewer; sisters, Jessie (John) Turner Bone, St. Catharines, Ont.; Joan Ogden, Ottawa; sister-in-law, Elizabeth MacKay, Scotsburn; nieces and nephews, Roxie, Gail, Sandy, Susan and Ross; grandniece, Ashley; grandnephew, Dustin.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Ross MacKay; nephew, Peter Turner Bone; brother-in-law, Larry Ogden.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm. Friday March 18th in Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn with Rev. Lara Scholey officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall.
