Obituary of Cst. John Cornell Cameron
BLACK POINT – Cst. John Cornell Cameron (Ret’d), 60, Black Point, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late John Alexander “Owen” and Ruth Adeline (Monovan) Cameron. Prior to retirement in January of this year, John served with the New Glasgow Police Department for 36 years, a career he greatly enjoyed. He was past master of Euclid Lodge No. 92, A.F. & A.M., New Glasgow. John enjoyed watching drag racing, listening to music and getting together with his friends. Above all, he loved his children and grandchildren dearly.
Surviving are daughter, Kimberley (Keith); son, Kirk (Amanda); grandson, John Thomas “JT”; granddaughter, Emma Grace; mother-in-law, Barbara Kennedy; sisters-in-law, Carol Ann (Tony) Russell; Patricia (Dan) Irving; Bernadette (Terry) Kellock; Dawn Kennedy; brother-in-law, John (Karen) Kennedy; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Linda (Kennedy).
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John the Baptist Church with Father Gary MacPherson presiding.
Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, New Glasgow at a later date.
