Obituary of George Douglas Spaulding

NEW GLASGOW – George Douglas Spaulding, 77, New Glasgow, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Monday, April 15, 2019. Born in Rumford, Maine, he was the son of the late George Adelbert and Marion Rose (Chadbourne) Spaulding. He was a faithful member of Maranatha Bible Church, New Glasgow and the former Munroe Avenue Baptist Church. George attended Nyack Missionary College, New York (1962-1963) and the New Brunswick Bible Institute from 1964 until graduation in 1967. He served with the Canadian Sunday School Mission from 1967-1970 where he became pastor of Broadview Baptist Church, Saskatchewan, serving until 1974. George moved to New Glasgow in 1974 and was employed as a desk clerk with the former Peter Pan Motel until 1977 when he became employed with Michelin Tire, Granton from where he retired in 2007. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing Gospel and Blue Grass music. George was a member the bands Rusty Nails and Melange. He played with many local musicians throughout the county; in the hospital, nursing and senior’s homes, and at various other venues. George especially looked forward to movie and pizza nights with his grandchildren. George was proud of his French heritage and family, whom he loved eternally. His strong faith in Jesus Christ guided his life, passion and purpose. For George, death, was the long-awaited entry into the presence of his Holy Father and to hear the words, “well done good and faithful servant”. Surviving are sons, Jamie (Trina), New Glasgow; Patrick (Ashley), Westville; Gordie (Alice), Linacy; mother of his children, Ella (Gordon), New Glasgow; grandchildren, Emma (Ethan), Aiden, Kaleb, Noah, Kendell, Bailey, Jeremy and Josh. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 18th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 19th in Maranatha Bible Church, 490 Abercrombie Road, New Glasgow with Pastor Jerry Stearns officiating.
