Obituary of James Wilkie Taylor
NEW GLASGOW – James “Wilkie” Taylor, 89, New Glasgow, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Ralph and Hazel (Robertson) Taylor. He was employed at the Evening News, New Glasgow as a reporter and Sports Editor and later the Chronicle Herald as a Night Shift Editor and Bureau Chief for Nova Scotia from where he retired after over 30 years of service. Wilkie was an avid sports fan, a member of the Abercrombie Golf Club, and enjoyed photography. Wilkie was a recipient of the Canada 125 year Award.
Surviving are wife, Esther (Sinclair); daughter, Paula (Roy) Anderson, Stratford, P.E.I.; sons, Paul, Matthew, both of New Glasgow; grandchildren, Hope, Taylor and Jimmy.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Fred, one in infancy.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday May 9, 2018 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
