Fred has been a fixture in my memory from around 65 years ago when we were in accordion lessons together, in a small community hall beside a baseball field in Lakeside Heights (Pointe Claire). And the music plays on.

Dear Coreen and family. I am so sorry to hear about Fred's death. He was such a kind and gentle person. He was a constant in my life in New Glasgow in numerous work situations and as part of our social life. He brought a thoughtful calm to difficult situations and had a understated sense of humour. I always felt better for having being in his company. I trust that your beautiful life together and enduring love will provide some solace during the difficult days ahead. May his memory be a blessing. We will be thinking of you on Saturday and toast such an extraordinary man & life. much love to you, Coreen.

Dear Coreen, How many times over the years wherever would meet Fred, be it on the street or the library he always had the time to stop, smile and say hello. Always so gentle and kind! Fred exuded that. The past many years have been difficult for you all but you persevered and rose to the challenges with honor and dignity! Love Eric and Darrell

Coreen and Family: I was privileged to sit with Fred on numerous committees in the community. He was such a wonderful contributor to the work at hand and handled himself with such a high level of integrity--a rare trait to find in people these days. I am thankful to have known him and learned so much from our conversations. My sincerest condolences and prayers are with you at this very difficult time.

Dear Coreen, we were so devastated to hear of Fred's passing. Our deepest sympathies to you and your entire family. I have some very fond memories of our times together more than 50 years ago. Kevin and I have really enjoyed our recent lunches together back in Ontario. What a fitting place to celebrate Fred's life, in his garden. Blessings, Rosa and Kevin.

Coreen I'm so sad to hear that Fred has died. He was a lovely man and Jillie and I remember both of you so well in Kano when you put us up and when we visited you in New Glasgow. I particularly remember when Fred came here and we went to Bath together and wandered round the Roman baths. He also mischievously wound me up about some DIY task that I had failed to do for Jillie! He did it with a smile on his face. We'll be writing separately but love to you and all the family. I'll be thinking of Fred and you on the day.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss Coreen. I am so grateful for the times we shared. My mind merges between all of us laughing so many years ago at St. Thomas High, Fred carrying your books. And years later taking a wonderful stroll down memory lane, hearing of the richness of your life together. Such love he had for you, so evident when he showed me the worn picture of you that he carried and cherished. I am so sorry for your loss and so gifted to have seen the lifelong love between you and Fred. Love Janice

To Fred's family, my daughter worked at the New Glasgow Library during her high school years. She's now school teacher and still speaks very highly of Fred. She said he was a very lovely man and has fond memories of working with him. I just wanted to share this with you, it's always nice to acknowledge people who had an opportunity to mentor our children. I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person although I do remember seeing him in the library when I visited. God bless you as you navigate this very difficult time.

Dear Coreen and Family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of being a colleague of Fred's many years ago when we were both librarians in our respective regional libraries. Fred and I would sometimes snicker at the silliness that went on at the Provincial library when we had to attend meetings there. His quiet humor and patience were a welcome relief. My condolences to you. Frances Anderson
