My condolences to all the family. Free at last to dance with natures treasures again. I have to share this story with Jeanie and her family and friends. Late last week the birds around my feeder seemed to multiply overnight. They were singing , eating and fluttering all around my home. The strangest thing that happened though was that many were hitting my windows from all sides of the house. On Monday I lost count after 15 hits. This continued on Tues. to the point that I went to my computer to see if there was a spiritual message that I should take note of. Then on Wed. morning one little Chickadee actually hovered in the window as if trying to tell me something. Just then Susan called to let me know Harry passed. After that call, the birds seemed to quiet. Now I know why these small creatures of God or The Great Spirit Keeper were so excited. Uncle Harry's Spirit was flying free in each little bird after such a long period of being imprisoned in his own body. I have never witnessed birds act like this in November. it was like a flashback of late July when all the birds are singing songs of joy. Thanks Harry.

Condolences to Jean, and the whole Brennan family. Harry was not only a great birder, but also a great person. I started going on his field trips when I was about 10, an he was such a positive influence as a birder/photographer, and as a person. Apologies for not attending the visitation or service, as I just got the sad news on Saturday. Regards Gary Murray Halifax Nova Scotia

Sorry to hear of Harry's passing. If we had a Hall of Fame to honour contributions to conservation and nature appreciation, he should be in it. I remember seeing my first Saw-whet Owl at one of his boxes in 1966, and as far as I know, he was the first to provide nest boxes for them.

My sincere condolences to the whole family but especially Jean. I am so honoured to have known Harry and seen him present many times and walk in the woods with him and Jean to observe birds and nests . I’m also delighted that he and Julie Towers and I did a book together. So many people comment on the photos in that book. I will never forget him calling in a saw whet owl or his wonderful wit. He was the star attraction when I coordinated a birding course for Americans at StFx university for many years. The people who watched Harry’s pictures said they were National Geographic quality. That he photographed almost every Nova Scotis species, their nests and eggs will likely never be replicated. He was a scientist in his own way. I hope his slide collection will be treasured as he recorded species that are now disappearing. The world was a better place for the presence of Harry and certainly he will be hooting around the woods forever. My regards to you all especially you Jean. Most sincerely Anne Camozzi

Thinking of you all at this sad time. What a splendid picture of Harry. And a most touching obituary: I, for one, will always think of him when I am out in his beloved natural world.
