NEW GLASGOW – William David “Dave” Willett, 94, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 8, 2021, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.
Born in Main-a-dieu, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Ida Effie Caroline (MacGillivray) Willett. Prior to retirement, he was a carpenter with the former Fraser, Mason & Fraser Ltd. Dave walked continually for exercise and social interaction and was well known throughout New Glasgow. He greatly enjoyed dining at the East Side Family Restaurant and going to Tim’s for coffee, conversation and crossword puzzles with friends. Dave was an avid armchair coach for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs.
He was a much-loved member of the Willett family and for many years spent holidays and vacations visiting his family in Cape Breton.
David was the last surviving member of his immediate family and is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Mary Trickett, Mildred MacAulay, Alice Langley, Clarice Goldbeck and a sister in infancy; brothers, Lawrence, Edward and Charles.
In honour of Dave’s wishes his family will celebrate his life privately and encourage those who knew him to remember his stories and the sound of his laughter.
