Obituary of Russell Daniel LeBlanc

NEW GLASGOW – Russell Daniel LeBlanc, 49, New Glasgow, formerly of Pictou Landing, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 12, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his mother by his side. Born in St. Catharines, Ont., he was a son of Cheryl Anne (Cantley) LeBlanc, Pictou and the late William Daniel “Bill” LeBlanc Sr. Russell was a welder and machinist with the former Trenton Works until closure, a job he greatly enjoyed. Following, he was employed with the oil and gas industry in Alberta. Russell was an avid Montreal Canadians fan and fisher. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, best friend and brother, Billy and good friend, Danny Brooks. Russell is best described by his mother as “loveable” and “possessing a big heart”, and by his sister, a “jokester”. Although his loved ones will miss him immensely, they are comforted by the knowledge that for Russell, “Life has changed; not ended!” Surviving besides his mother, Cheryl are children, Megan, Melissa and Daniel; step-children, Rodney and Blair; friend, Karen Prosper, Pictou Landing; sister, Lisa LeBlanc (Wade), Westville; brother, William D. “Billy” LeBlanc Jr. (Colleen), Edmonton, Alta.; nieces, Crystal (Colin) and Carrie (Matt); several aunts and uncles; many cousins. Besides his father, Bill, he was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Tites and Geraldine (Leadbetter) Cantley; paternal grandparents, Bill and Theresa (Cote) LeBlanc. Russell’s family wish to thank the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit staff for the wonderful care received. They wish to express their gratitude to Russell’s wonderful friend, Karen, for always being there when he needed her most. Russell’s life will be celebrated privately by his family.
