Obituary of Corey Alexander Calder
NEW GLASGOW – Corey Alexander Calder, 36, New Glasgow, passed away, peacefully, Sunday, July 17, 2022, in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow, after a valiant battle.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Nora Jean (Smith) Copan and Ross Alexander Calder. Corey was a welder and iron worker. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many sports. Corey loved music, especially playing the guitar. He adored his two children and was loved by many.
Surviving are his mother, Nora (Rick) Copan, Stellarton; father, Ross (Marion) Calder, Stellarton; daughter, Annabell; son, Reid; brother, Nathan (Lindsay) Calder and their daughter, Talia, Peterborough, Ont.; maternal grandfather, Gerald Smith, Truro; maternal aunts, Dale (Gary) Lucas, Lower Sackville and Cynthia (Dan) Doiron, Truro; paternal uncles, Daniel (Mary) Smith, Sylvester and Blane (Heather) Smith, Middle Sackville, N.B.; paternal aunts, Jean Landry, Saint Georges Channel and Norma (Cecil) Skinner, Halifax; paternal uncles, Donald (Phyllis) Calder, Durham; Jack (Angela) Calder, Sydney; Robert (Connie) Calder, Saint Georges Channel; many cousins.
He was predeceased by maternal grandmother, Jean (Turney) Smith; paternal grandparents, William, and Mabel (Ross) Calder; aunt, Carol Calder.
Corey’s life will be celebrated privately, and he will be laid to rest with his paternal grandparents in MacKay Cemetery, St. Georges Channel.
Donations may be made in Corey’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment.
