Obituary of Sally Ann Watters-Strutynski
PICTOU – Sally Ann Watters-Strutynski, 60, Pictou, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 13, 2022, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow after a brief illness.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John George and Margaret Ann (Smith) Watters. Prior to retirement in June of this year, Sally’s teaching career spanned 38 years, having taught in Nunavut Territory and several schools throughout the county. She thoroughly enjoyed her teaching career and was often cited as “a natural born teacher”. Sally sought the best for her students, building lifelong relationships, which were noticeable as former students would frequently stop by her home to “see how retirement was going”. She was a faithful servant within The Salvation Army Westville Corps for many years, where she served in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher, youth leader and most recently band master. Sally enjoyed visiting family and friends and traveling abroad. She possessed a contagious laugh, cheerful spirit, a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, and was always willing to help people when needed. For Sally, “Life has changed; not ended!” She now enjoys eternity with her Saviour and loved ones who have gone before.
Surviving are her husband, John Strutynski; brother, Everett (Mary) Watters; sisters-in-law, Janice Watters and Joanne Strutynski; brother-in-law, Michael (Miriam) Strutynski; nieces, Lorianne and Christina; nephews, Everett, Ricky, Stephen, Christopher, John and Joseph; several great-nieces and great-nephews; aunts, Elda Watters, Lottie Flavin, Sharon Smith (John), and Ruth (Colin) McGarrigle; uncles, Everett Smith and Roddy (Linda) Watters; many cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Howard and John; niece, Nissim; aunts, Rena Bell, Kay, Diane, Linda and Barbara; uncles, Clarence, Vernon, Huntley, Francis, Harry and Billy.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 16 in P. & K.
