Dear Sis. Joan, the children, and Paris family, I send you our heartfelt sympathy and
condolences as you mourn the death of your beloved Francis. I deeply regret that my family
is unable to be with you today due to health reasons. However, be assured of our prayers and thoughts
as you pay final tributes and celebrate the life and legacy of a good family man who was dearly loved by
all.
My heart aches today as I reflect upon the passing of my brother Francis. We have many good memories
of our times together as families during and after our ministry in New Glasgow. It is difficult to put into
words the many facets of our relationship. My joy is simply knowing that I met a man, a genuine Christian
brother whose steadfast love, care and support helped my family get through difficult times during our
ministry at Second Baptist Church. He was there for us till the very end culminating in the planning of our
send-off party held at the Michelin Plant in March, 1990.
Brother Francis had a gentle spirit, and his laughter was both disarming and reassuring. He was
intelligent and caring, deeply committed to his relationships. Chika and I were thrilled when Francis and
Joan accepted to be godparents to our daughter, Uzochi. We shall forever remain grateful for all the love,
care and support expended upon our family over the years. On a personal note, I will miss him dearly
and will always carry him in my heart. He was a good brother. I am thankful to God and richly blessed to
call him my best friend.
Family was very important to Francis, and he leaves behind a legacy of goodness, love, hard work and
faith. We’ll forever cherish all the sweet memories. Sister Joan, as you and your family celebrate his life, I
pray you may find comfort and strength in God’s Holy word--“God is close to the broken hearted; he
rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”(Ps.34:18). Also, God has promised that “he’ll comfort our
hearts; that he’ll never leave nor forsake us, and so we cast all our burdens on Him who cares for us”
(Mt.5:4; Isa 49:13; 1 Peter 5:7).
Our beloved Francis will be dearly missed, but he has gone home to his Lord. May you find reassurance
and confidence from Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 4:7-8—” I have done my best in the race, I have run the
distance, and I have kept the faith. And now there is waiting for me the victory prize of being right with
God…” (GNT). May God grant you peace and special grace during this difficult time.
Farewell my friend and brother, enjoy your eternal rest where there are no more pains, hospital trips,
sickness, suffering and tears. Oh, those precious memories, “how they linger, how they ever flood my
soul”. Thank you, Francis for all you have given us; our lives are blessed.
With our love and prayers,
Rev. Ohanaka, Chika & family

To Joan and Family ….
During this most difficult time in your lives, it is never easy to loose someone who was so dear to us. He not only touched our lives, but with his gentle spirit and radiant smile he brighten the darkest day.
It is at times such as these that we look to one another. We need to share in stories, give hugs, and be there for each other. It is also a time to ask for guidance and strength.
As we go on with our lives ,with heavy hearts, look to one another for support. We will have many great memories of Babe and how he always made us smile. He always saw the good in people , that in itself is a gift.
I am thankful for wonderful people like Babe I am thankful that he showed me that a gentle spirit can move amongst us and say so much in few spoken words.
Rest well Babe, you have earned your wings in heaven and all the joys that God has in store for you. until we meet again...
Cousin Ray and Stacia Paris

Sending my strength and condolences to the family. He was always such a genuinely nice, friendly, and approachable person. I served him lots at an old job of mine, and my face always lit up when he walked in. He always let us know how he was doing and it was always wonderful to see him and see what he's up to. Sending love from NFLD. So terribly sorry. God be with him and you all.
