To all of Nettie’s family, I was so sorry to hear about your her passing. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss.
Unfortunately we have lost almost all of our family’s older generation. There’s only a couple left.
Hold on tight to all those old family stories!
Our ancestors were strong, hard working and stubborn…and they just refused to give up when life got tough.
Plus they held tight to their family …and all the old family stories that told us what life was like in the early years in Pictou County…and they never forgot where they came from.
Your Mom and Dad were just like their pioneering ancestors…as are mine. Definitely old school…and proud of it.
They showed their deep love of their family with all the hard work they did…they just never stopped working until they had done everything they could to help those they loved…that’s how our family survived the difficult times over the years!
When I was young my parents or my grandparents would take us on long Sunday drives. Many times we would end up visiting family…either close or extended…it didn’t matter…they were all “Family”…they were all part of our “Clan”!
I remember how sometimes our drive through the beautiful countryside would end up taking us down Dan C Fraser Road…and we would be told again that this was where our great grandfather Dan C Fraser’s farm was..and we would pull into your yard to visit our cousins.
We would be welcomed with open arms and big smiles…it didn’t matter that there was no prior warning…we were family and treated as such. The teapot would go on and the baked goods put on plates on the kitchen table. And bottles of blueberry and strawberry jam for the biscuits.
The grownups would catch up on family news and then they would reminisce and tell family stories. I would listen eagerly…I loved hearing about all of this…as we ate our treats. Then the kids went outside to play on the farm. Those were fun times!
I hope remembering all of the precious happy memories of your Mom and reminiscences together brings you comfort in this difficult time of grief.
You and all your part of our family are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs From your cousin Shelley and my part of the Clan!
