Obituary of Nettie Fraser

WOODFIELD – Minetta Ann “Nettie” Fraser, 89, Woodfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Hedgeville, she was a daughter of the late Percy Levi and Muriel Amy (MacPhail) Langille. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain where she served as Treasurer, member of the Board of Managers and on the Fund Raising Committee. Nettie obtained her teaching credentials at Normal College, Truro and taught in the County for several years.  Prior to retirement, she was employed with Michelin Tire, Granton for over 17 years. Nettie was known as the “Avon Lady” for many years, a career she thoroughly enjoyed for over 60 years. She never really retired, as she continued to operate the family farm until her passing, looking after her cattle, chickens and blueberries.  Nettie possessed a strong work ethic, gentle resilience and enduring love for her family.

Surviving are her daughters, Glenda (Ron) Fraser, Garden of Eden; Gloria (David) Doiron, Hilden; Wendy Fraser, Brookfield; sons, Robert (Marlene) Fraser, The Ponds; Kevin (Tracy) Fraser, Woodfield; sisters, Mary (Victor) Martens, South Waterville; Agnes (Gerald) Murray, River John; brother, John (Ethel) Langill, River John; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Ellsworth; daughters, Lorna Jane Fraser and Catherine Roma Wynn Forsyth; grandson, Stephen Forsyth; sisters, Patricia MacLean, Kathryn Langille and Cora Langille; son-in-law, Douglas Forsyth.

The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 5 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, February 6 with Mrs. Patricia Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Eden Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Nettie’s memory to Garden of Eden Cemetery or Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Endowment.
