To The Williams Family, I met Laurie and Jim in Copetown Ontario in 1986 when they were logging a bush property across the road from our country home. They needed a place to park their equipment and store their firewood and asked me if they could use a piece of my property and that is how our friendship started. We ended up buying a portable sawmill together, along with a little dump truck and a large trailer to carry logs. Laurie was always the outgoing one and Jim was more quiet and serious. Laurie told me that Jim was the worrier in the family so he never have too, he said "It would waste a worry!" There was never a dull moment when Laurie was around, he always had a smile on his face, a funny saying on his lips and a new idea on his mind. Our friendship lasted for almost 10 years when the boys decided to move to Cape Breton Island where they put the old sawmill to good use. So sorry to hear about Laurie's passing, my memories of him always bring a smile to my face. Sincerely, Ken and Kim Ofield
